Twenty years of radical photography fills this first publication of Miron Zownir‘s work. Beginning in the late 1970‘s as a chronicler of Punk movement in Berlin, he then moved to New York, taking photos of hookers, the gay and S&M scene, the homless, criminals and any kind of freaks around the legendary "sexpiers" by the Hudson River.
During the early 90‘s he started documenting social and moral decline in the former Soviet Union by taking photos of the homeless, juveniles street gangs, Mafia, drunkards - the living proof of the backyard of modern society. Miron Zownir was arrested, jailed, beaten and nearly killed several times during his frontline work to bring these extremely creative and poignant images that will haunt the reader well after the book is closed.

Zwanzig Jahre radikaler Fotografie gebündelt im ersten Buch von Miron Zownir. Er begann seine Arbeit im Berlin der frühen Punk Tagen, Ende der Siebziger, um später nach New York zu gehen und auf den berüchtigten "Sexpiers" am Hudson River die dortige Mischpoke aus Schwulen, Nutten, SM-Freaks, Obdachlosen und Kriminellen im Bild festzuhalten.
Anfang der Neunziger bereiste er die ehemalige Sovietunion, wo er den rapiden sozialen und moralischen Verfall mit Bildern von Obdachlosen, jugendlichen Strassengangs, Mafiosi und Betrunkenen dokumentiert - den Bewohner der Hinterhöfen unserer modernen Gesellschaft. Miron Zownir wurde bei seiner Art der Kriegsberichterstattung wiederholt inhaftiert, verprügelt und beinahe getötet, nur um Bilder aufzunehmen, die noch kein Betrachter unbeeindruckt gelassen haben.
Miron Zownir‘s Radical Eye ist nicht anders als Dante‘s Inferno im Hier und Jetzt.
